In the same year, the company got $1.6 billion reward for a NASA contract for Falcon 9-launched Dragon spacecraft flights to the International Space Station (ISS), utilized as an alternative for the retired Space Shuttle.

Elon musk also invested in Tesla, Inc.(originally Tesla Motors) in 2004 and became the main stakeholder, being the chairman of the board of directors.

By 2008, Tesla had began the distribution of Roadster (an electric sports car) and had delivered around 2,500 vehicles.

The 54 years old Elon Reeve Musk was born in Pretoria South Africa to Errol Musk (father) and Maye Musk (mother), but later moved to Canada in 1989 where he got a Canadian citizenship at birth via his Canadian-born mother.

In 1997, he bagged his first degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, United States, and eventually migrate to California to follow his business dreams.

As at 2002, he had already become an American citizen.

He’s a Christian raised in the Anglican Church, and has a brother and sister named Kimbal and Tosca respectively, alongside other four paternal half-siblings.

He married his first wife (Justine Wilson) in the year 2000, with the union producing six children.
